As a qualified Soft Tissue Therapist and experienced secondary Physical Education Teacher, I understand the importance of maintaining optimum performance, fitness, health and well-being regardless of age or ability.
Having always competed in a number of sporting activities and challenges throughout my life, I appreciate the physical and mental demands that sport can put on the body. By providing clients with regular soft tissue treatment, this serves to complement their training regime, promote muscle and joint recovery, as well as reducing the chances of injury occurring.
My advanced treatments cater for a wide range of minor and chronic injuries. Your first appointment will include an initial consultation and functional movement assessment to inform me of your individual treatment and rehabilitation needs. Future treatments are all aimed at alleviating pain and increasing soft tissue mobility and overall strength. Anyone can benefit from deep tissue massage treatments, not just sports performers!
I am a member of Teignmouth Rowing club, a keen runner, cyclist and netball player with a love of sea swimming and weekly boot camp sessions to challenge the mind, body and soul! Being someone who is very passionate about exercising and competing in a range of physical challenges, I understand the demand this can put on our body and I know first-hand how much soft tissue treatment can complement periods of training and recovery.
My participation in these sporting activities allows me to empathise with my clients and break down the bio-mechanics of their injury in order to provide an effective and goal oriented treatment.
My main aim as a soft tissue practitioner is to help reduce pain, as well as to improve strength, joint stability and range of motion. I endeavour to keep up with the latest research and treatment methods by attending CPD courses whenever possible and also work at a range of sporting events (including the Dartmoor Classic, Newquay County Rowing Championships, Bicton Blister 10 mile run, City to Sea ultra marathon, Exmouth 10k/half marathon to name a few) in order to provide participants with pre and post-event treatments that enhance performance and speed up soft tissue recovery.
I am based in Teignmouth (Essence of Devon beauty salon), The Clinic at Exmouth as part of a multidisciplinary team of soft tissue therapists and Bovey Chiropractic Clinic. Mobile massage is also available to local Teignmouth and Dawlish clients on request.
I am a Rock Tape certified – Level 1 & 2 and am a fully registered member of the ISRM (Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage). I always endeavour to keep up with the latest research and treatment methods by attending CPD courses and I work at a range of sporting events at the weekends, providing pre and post event massage treatments to competitors in order to optimise their performance and musculoskeletal recovery.
